To delete a product, click on the “delete button” next to the product name. Then click on the “delete button” to confirm the deletion.

In order to update an existing product in zen cart, follow the following instructions:

• Move your cursor over the catalog link in the top menu.
• Click on Categories/Products
• Click on the name of the category to locate your product
• Click on the name of the product that you wish to edit
• Review and change the product information
• Click on the “preview button”
• Click on the “update button” to save the product information.

To add a new product in zen cart, follow the following instructions:

• Move your cursor over the catalog link in the top menu.
• Click on Categories/Products
• Click on the name of the category under which you wish to add a new product.
• Click on the “New Product” Button
• Product Status: choose from “in stock” or “out of stock” depending on your liking
• Date available: Click on the blue arrow to choose the date from which the product will be available for sale.
• Products Manufacturer: This is optional and you will need to select a manufacturer only if you need to give your customers the choice to filter products by manufacturer. In most cases you won’t need this option unless you are selling well known brand names. Click here for more information on  adding a new manufacturer.
• Product Name
• Product is Free: No
• Product is Call for Price: No (Select yes only if you want people to enquire about the product but not actually buy it straight away)
• Product Priced by Attributes: No (Select yes if the product is available in different colours, sizes etc.)
• Tax Class: Select G.S.T
• Enter Products Price (Net) and Products Price (Gross) will be automatically calculated.
• Product is Virtual: No (Select yes only if you are selling downloadable software, downloadable music or downloadable videos etc.)
• Always Free Shipping: Select appropriate option
• Special, Product/Download Combo Requires a Shipping Address (leave this unselected)
• Products Quantity Box Shows: Yes (This option will let visitors enter the number of selected product that they want to buy)
• Product Qty Minimum: 1 (The minimum number of the selected product that they must buy)
• Product Qty Maximum: 1 (The maximum number of the selected product that they can buy)
• Product Qty Units: 1 (Could be 12 if you sell by dozens etc.)
• Product Qty Min/Unit Mix: Yes (Leave untouched)
• Products Description: Enter product description
• Products Quantity: Number of products do you have in stock. If you do not want the products to run out of stock enter number such as 1000 or more etc. You can always change this option later.
• Products Model: If applicable
• Products Image (optional): Click on the “Browse button” to select the product image
• Upload to directory: Main directory
• Delete Image? : No
• Overwrite Existing Image on Server? : Yes
• Or, select an existing image file from server, filename: leave blank
• Products URL: (Optional – Leave blank) You can specify a website address of your supplier or you can enter the product url from your suppliers website.
• Products Shipping Weight: Optional – Enter weight in kg (e.g 2 for 2kg or 0.5 for 500gm etc) if you wish to calculate shipping by weight
• Sort Order: Order in which the product appears under the category (higher number = product displayed lower down the order and vice versa)
• Click on the “preview button”
• Click on the “insert button”

Add a manufacturer

In order to add product manufacturer, follow the following steps:

• Move your mouse over catalog link in the top menu.
• Click on the manufacturers link (about 10th link from the top) from the drop down menu.
• Click on the insert button
• Enter Manufacturers Name
• Enter Manufacturers Image (optional)
• Upload to directory: manufacturers
• select an existing image file from server, filename: leave blank
• Enter Manufacturers url or full website address starting with http://www.  (optional)
• Click the “Save Button”  to add the manufacturer
• All done. New Manufacturer has been added.

Edit Manufacturer Information

In order to edit a manufacturer information, follow the following steps:

• Move your mouse over catalog link in the top menu.
• Click on the manufacturers link (about 10th link from the top) from the drop down menu to view existing manufacturers.
• Click on the “edit button” next to the name of the manufacturer.
• Enter the required information and click the “Save Button”  to save the manufacturers information.

Delete a Manufacturer

In order to delete an existing manufacturer, follow the following steps:

• Move your mouse over catalog link in the top menu.
• Click on the manufacturers link (about 10th link from the top) from the drop down menu to view existing manufacturers.
• Click on the “delete button” next to the name of the manufacturer.
• Click on the “delete button” to confirm deletion.

To add a new sub-category in zen cart, follow the following instructions:

• Move your cursor over the catalog link in the top menu.
• Click on Categories/Products
• Click on the name of the category to which you want to add this new sub-category
• Click on the “New Category” Button
• Type in the name of the sub-category
• Type in description of the sub-category
• Upload an image related to that particular sub-category by clicking on the browse button
• Upload to directory : Leave this unchanged
• Select an existing image file from the server : leave this unchanged
• Sort Order (Optional) : can be a any number starting from zero.
• Click on the “Save” Button
• All done. Your sub-category has been added.

* A main sub-category can have sub-sub-categories or products but not both at the same level.

Assign meta tags: You can add meta tags related to each category by clicking on the “meta tags” button . Then enter the Meta title, meta description and meta keywords and click the “save button” . Meta tags plays an important role in making your website search engine friendly. Title meta tag is the most important meta tag and should contain the most important keyword related to the this category. Usually name of the category is suitable for title tag. Meta keywords should contain couple of keywords related to the category. Meta description should contain a description of the category in no more than 160 words.

Move a product category: Sometimes you might need to move a category under another category. For example if you have a category named clothes and shoes and you have sub-categories e.g. shirts, trousers under the main category clothes. Lets say you have accidentally added a sub-category jeans under the category shoes instead of clothes. Now you want to move the sub-category from shoes category to clothes category. In order to move a category, click on the “move button” next to the category name. You will then be asked to select the new main category under which this category will appear as a sub-category. Select the category from the drop down list and click “move button” . You will also see an option “top” in the drop down list. Selecting this option will make this category a main category and it will no longer be a sub-category.

To rename a category or edit category information, click on the “edit button” next to the category name. You can then change the name, description, order and image related with the category.

To delete a product category, click on the “delete button” next to the category name. Then click on the “delete button” to confirm the deletion.
